Taryn Van Vliet
AMFT
Associate Therapist
My name is Taryn Van Vliet (she/her/hers). I am a Registered Associate Marriage and
Family Therapist AMFT121669 with the Board of Behavioral Sciences working
towards licensure in California. I hold an out-of-state master’s degree in Marriage,
Couples, and Family Therapy from the Graduate School of Education and Counseling
at Lewis and Clark College. I have experience using relational and systemic theory as a
clinical intern at an Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy clinic treating a women’s
trauma recovery group and adolescent psychosocial group. Soon after moving home
to California I started working as a primary therapist with adults who struggle with
eating disorders. I developed expertise and confidence working with complex and
challenging client populations and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
As a systemically and relationally trained therapist, I focus on increasing agency,
awareness, and voice through relational ways of thinking and engaging, to support
clients in making conscious choices that will improve their overall quality of life. I’m
skilled at rapport-building and generating insight with clients using a collaborative,
interpersonal and respectful therapeutic approach.
